Û ÛÛ    Apex New supersedes Apex Sans, which was originally released       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    in early 2003. Once the design was released, Chester started       ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    work on Apex Serif, Thirstype's first OpenType font family; he     ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    returned to Apex Sans in early 2004, with a view to extending      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    the glyphset and combining the Small Caps and numeral sets         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    into OpenType fonts. As he worked, he started seeing the           ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    type's flaws, and set about fixing them. Two years later,          ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    Apex New was finished. All weights of the type have been           ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    revised, and everything heavier than Book has been completely      ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    redrawn. The bold weights which had previously "closed up",        ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    especially at smaller sizes, are now more open with subtle         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    contrast; the new version has been described as "elegant".         ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    The family has grown to seven weights, with over a thousand        ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    glyphs in each font. The font files are cross-platform             ÛÛ Û
Û ÛÛ    CFF-flavoured OpenType, with loads of basic and advanced           ÛÛ Û
